Barometer Capital LLC is an investment advisory firm that utilizes quantitative analysis and econometric modeling to develop portfolio strategies offering superior returns at reduced risk levels. Of particular emphasis is capital preservation and avoidance of losses.

For several years, we published a monthly newsletter named the Barometer Capital Report, which utilized a dynamic asset allocation strategy to optimize results over the course of the business cycle. This strategy delivered excellent results from the late 1990s through 2007, outperforming both the S&P 500 and a fixed allocation portfolio consisting of 60% stocks and 40% long-term bonds. However, it failed to anticipate the bear markets precipitated by the 2008 mortgage-backed securities meltdown and the 2011 Eurozone debt crisis. Publication was halted in early 2012.

The founder and principal of the firm, Gene Bowles, is currently evaluating potential new strategies to deliver superior investment returns, with an emphasis on high current income and reduced volatility. The objective is to meet the needs of retiring baby-boomers who require both capital preservation and higher income than is available from U.S. Treasuries. This website will serve as the vehicle to introduce this new strategy when it is ready to be introduced publicly.
